re: filibuster against 'Obamacare'
Good news, President Obama: Americans support the Affordable Care Act, as Jimmy Kimmel just showed. The bad news: They hate Obamacare. Of course, we all know that "Obamacare" is the pejorative shorthand for the Affordable Care Act, Obama's 2010 healthcare reform law being held ransom by House Republicans who cite the American people’s dislike of the legislation as their reason for bringing much of the federal government to a halt.

Monte, we are in agreement that Bush is a tyrant. Where we might differ is on my belief that Obama is a more imaginative, therefore more dangerous tyrant.

Please read Ted Cruz's Shameful Betrayal Of Texas op-ed published at Forbes dot com, Oct 4, 2013.
-- please read the comments section. I agree with what Beth Ahlsted said: "I have been watching Ted Cruz since he came into the Senate. Not only does he eerily resemble Joe McCarthy physically, but he also resembles Joe McCarthy in the tactics he uses, i.e. just making slanderous assertions about people without any evidence to back it up. It is obvious that Cruz is doing exactly what his masters, the Koch Bros., want him to do, as well as the people who voted for him. It is unfortunate that the Koch Bros. have been so successful with their propaganda campaign that divides people through religious ideology, racism, misogyny, et al. The Koch Bros. are John Birchers just like their father who made his first fortune working for Joseph Stalin in Russia. He came home and helped establish the John Birch Society; and his sons are carrying on those tenets. They are spending millions of dollars to destroy government and all the regulations that go with it from labor, EPA, finance, you name it. Any part of government that doesn’t benefit the 1% must be destroyed. They want a government of the corporations, by the corporations and for the corporations. And Ted Cruz, along with Scott Walker, and all the other Tea Party members are doing their bidding. Just look at the states that have GOP governors and legislatures. They are all doing the Koch Bros. bidding by destroying unions, privatizing education, suppressing votes, mandating state rape with the trans-vaginal ultrasounds, restricting birth control and abortion access, and villainizing anyone who gets SNAP, disability benefits, or other assistance. Their propaganda campaign uses Fox News and the many, many PACs, SuperPacs, think tanks and right wing bloggers. They have and will continue to spend billions of dollars to achieve their goal. The Koch Bros. founded and funded the Tea Party which is just the updated version of the John Birch Society, but this time with real power to elect their puppets to congress and then threaten to primary anyone in the GOP who doesn’t go along with their efforts to destroy our constitutional government. That should be obvious because their refusal to fund the government unless the President repeals an existing law is UNCONSTITUTIONAL. I also believe that extortion is illegal and in this case, treasonous."

Riddle me this monte - if you swear an oath of office to uphold the constitution, and a law is passed, challenged and declared constitutional by the u.s. supreme court, then are you not violating the constitution by trying to undermine the law when you don't have the votes to change it? I don't expect answers - or consistency of principles. And really, Forbes is left of left. I recall when marking my pages of Mao's Little Red Book with my subscription check. Always must the man read Fanon... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2EhaPUqG3M Please ignore anything in this piece - must be bullshit since in NYT. Come on, this is the same rag that gave us Judith Miller so we know nothing is right. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/10/06/us/a-federal-budget-crisis-months-in-the-planning.html?pagewanted=all and from the bowels of the leninist-marixist rag in london (the town where marx and engels really got it on): http://www.economist.com/news/leaders/21587211-land-free-starting-look-ungovernable-enough-enough-no-way-run-country http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7kOLHzMd_g
